JULIO D’ESCRIVAN AND ENSEMBLE KLEM AT THE BALDWIN, THE S´EANCE PROJECT: INTERVENTIONS ON RAVEL

December 4th, 2016

Computer music technology meets live instrumental performance. The Ensemble KLEM will participate in a performance of Julio d’Escriván’s Séance Project: an exploration of the pianola rolls originally recorded by Basque-French musician Maurice Ravel in the 1920s. In 2015, Composer Julio d’Escriván obtained the original digital transcriptions of the performance data. Since then he has been working on a remixing of and intervention upon the pianola rolls, creating new music derived from Ravel’s original piano performances.

Composer, improviser, and audiovisual artist, Julio d’Escriván is Senior Lecturer in music for moving image and creative music technologies at Huddersfield University.

In the intimate environment of a Blackheath living room, guests are invited for wine and live music, followed by a vegetarian buffet Sunday lunch. Space is extremely limited and bookings available only in advance. For information email info@thebaldwingallery.com or call 0203 620 6744.

This salon is supported by The Basque Government and the Sound•Music•Image Research Centre of The University of Huddersfield.
